About Our Church

Our Beliefs

The Bible

We believe the Bible is verbally inspired by God and fully preserved for us. The Bible is inerrant, infallible and complete in its entirety from Genesis through Revelation.  It will always be the highest doctrinal authority for our church for faith and practice. (Psalm 12:6-7; 2 Tim. 3:15-17; 1 Pet. 1:23-25;2 Pet. 1:19-21)

The Trinity

We believe in one true God, who is eternal, self-existent, infinite, holy and immutable.  God has one nature, one essence, and one substance; yet manifests himself in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Gen. 1:1; Deut. 6:4; 1 Tim. 1:17; James 1:17; 1 Jn. 4:4)

We believe God created the Heavens and the Earth, as well as, mankind in perfection, by His power, in six days.  There are many theories on this doctrine, and we would lovingly disagree with any theory of atheistic evolution or intelligent design not attributed to the Genesis account of creation.  (Gen. 1-2; Ex. 20:11; Psa. 8:3-4, 19:1,4; 139:13-16; Rom. 1:19-20)

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus is God and was born of a virgin, lived a perfect, sinless life as God manifested in the flesh to die as the sin substitute for humanity on the cross.  The vicarious death, burial, and victorious resurrection of Jesus is the good news of the Gospel and is the only means of salvation.  After His resurrection He ascended to be seated at the right hand of the Father and will visibly return as the King of kings and Lord of lords one glorious day to this earth. (Psa. 2:7-9; Isa. 7:14, 9:6; Mat. 1:25; Jn 1:1,3,14,18,29; Rom. 3:19-25, 5:6-15; Phil. 2:5-11; 1 Tim. 2:5, 3:16; Rev. 20:1-6)

Sin & Salvation

We believe every person is born with an inherited sin nature received from the rebellion of Adam, except for the God-man, Jesus. We believe the only hope for humanity is repentance toward God and faith in the Gospel, which is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. We believe salvation is by Grace alone through faith alone in Jesus alone to the glory of God alone. (Ecc. 7:20; Jn. 3:3-5, 14-18, 14:1-6; Rom. 3:10, 23-25, 5:1, 8-10, 6:23, 8:1, 35-39, 10:9-10; 2 Cor. 5:17, 21; Eph. 2:8-10; Titus 3:5)

The Church

We believe Jesus established His church during His earthly ministry, gave it authority to make disciples of all nations, and empowered it on the day of Pentecost to fulfill the pending task of the Great Commission.  More than 2,000 years later, the gates of Hell still haven’t prevailed against His church. The local church meets voluntarily to worship, fellowship, edify and encourage one another, and observe the ordinances of baptism and communion all to the glory of God. (Mat. 16:16-18, 28:18-20; Acts 1:15, 2:41-43, 11:15; 20:28; 1 Cor. 15:51-58; Eph. 1:12-14, 5:25-30; 1 Tim. 3:14-15; Heb. 10:25)

We believe human beings are made in the image of God and were created to worship Him continually and unceasingly. Worship includes praise, proclamation, service, sacrifice and submission, which should be God-centered and not me-centered.  Therefore, corporate worship should be a magnification and exaltation of God through prayer, Scripture reading, Bible preaching, music and singing, as well as, financial giving. We believe in embracing each church gathering as an opportunity to passionately worship God by the direction of His Word and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. (Psalms; Jn. 4:21-24; Mk. 14:3-9; Rom 12:1-2; Eph. 5:18-20; Heb. 12:28-29, 13:15)

Spiritual Gifts

We believe spiritual gifts continue to empower all believers to edify one another and enable us to advance the mission of Christ. We believe the Fruit of the Spirit and Gifts of the Spirit are equally important in the life of every believer. Therefore, spiritual gifts are capacities or abilities imparted by the Holy Spirit to glorify God and not draw attention to the believer exercising their gift or gifts. (Rom. 12:3-8; 1 Cor. 12-14; Eph. 4:11-14; 1 Pet. 4:10,11; Gal. 3:5; 1 Thess. 5:19-22; 1 Tim. 1:18; 2 Tim. 1:6; Heb. 2:3,4; Jas. 5:13-18)

Our Values

Bible Preaching

God uses preaching, which is a verbal proclamation of the Word of God, to reach the lost and encourage growth for the Child of God.  The Holy Spirit uses the whole counsel of the Word to gift faith, instruct us, and correct us if needed.  We desire to be loud where God is loud and silent where God is silent as the Gospel is preached and the entirety of the Word is declared.

Gospel Centered

The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing, and the main thing is the Gospel.  Everything at The Hill Church has the good news of the Gospel at it’s center.  We preach it, teach it, interpersonally share it, sing about it, and with thanksgiving, praise God for the substitutionary death, burial, and the victorious bodily resurrection, which is the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation and will change you radically, dramatically, instantaneously, and eternally.

Great Commissioned

We not only believe in the Great Commission, but actively engage in it.  We are commissioned to share the Gospel, baptize new converts, and make disciples.  We seek to intentionally and purposefully share the love of Jesus in our community.  This is our mission, our mandate, and our motivation. Therefore, not only are we missional, but we are also missions minded and desire to prayerfully and financially support doctrinally sound, church sent missionaries, who are also focused on fulfilling the pending task of the Great Commission.

Passion for People

Gods passion is people!  He loves people so much that He sent His only Son to die for sinful, rebellious, broken people.  If we love God, how can we not love people?  It doesn’t matter to us who you are, what you look like, what you’ve been through or what you’ve done.  We are called to love people how they are and where they are.  We are just ordinary people transformed by the power of an extraordinary God, who experience life together as a family.

Family Focused

Not only are we accepted and adopted into the Family of God, when we trust Jesus as our savior, but we are also a church family at The Hill.  We do this crazy thing called life together.  The church can only be as strong as it’s weakest family, so we strive together to grow in our personal relationship with Jesus as a family unit.  We love to see grandparents worship with their children and grandchildren, as well as, encourage them in their personal walk.  The Hill Church is a family focused church and will continue to be as Satan wages war and counterfeits what God has ordained as a family.

Grace & Truth Balance

The Bible is an incredible sword and a horrible club.  Sometimes our position can be truthful, but our disposition can be harmful and hurtful.  We gladly stand for biblical truths, but strive to do it graciously.  We are not here to take the place of the Holy Spirit in your life or replace the Lordship of Jesus with our rules or traditions.
